Biographie
À la suite de sa maîtrise en psychologie à l’Université Concordia et d’un doctorat en neurosciences de la vision à l’Université McGill, Walter Wittich, Ph. D., a complété un stage postdoctoral en audiologie au Centre de recherche de l’Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal. Fellow de l’American Academy of Optometry depuis 2011, il est devenu l’année suivante le tout premier thérapeute certifié en basse vision au Québec (Certified Low Vision Therapist), titre décerné par l’Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals.

Expertises
Intéressé depuis longtemps par les pertes de vision liées à l’âge, il poursuit actuellement des recherches sur la double déficience sensorielle et la surdicécité. Son domaine de spécialisation comprend la psychophysique ainsi que les approches médicale, psychosociale et de la réadaptation des déficiences sensorielles. Spécifiquement, il examine l’utilité, l’accessibilité et l’utilisabilité des aides techniques dans le but d’améliorer la qualité de vie et la participation sociale des aines vivant avec une déficience sensorielle.
